RFG Wealth Advisory Newsletter Jan. '24

Personal articles from the RFG Wealth Advisory team - January 2024.

RFG Wealth Advisory - Team News Chris Robinson - What a difference a few months makes in our weather. When I was writing January 2024 our last newsletter, we were coming off an incredibly hot summer and as I write today it was 12 degrees last night. The fall season came and went just as quickly as ever. The Robinson family stayed busy with Saturday football games, as my son Jacob had a great year at Tyler Jr. College. I knew Thanksgiving would sneak up on me like it always does, and of course it did. We traveled to my dad’s house for Thanksgiving and had a big time. Christmas has changed a lot as my children have gotten older. They used to come down at 6 AM to see what Santa Claus brought them; this year, I had to wake them up at 10 AM! We hosted Christmas this year and had 25 at our house. It made me realize how rare it is to get the whole family together. It sure seems like the extended family got together more when I was growing up. I believe there are just too many distractions these days. Read More, page 2

We would go to my grandparents’ for about a week. Both sets of grandparents lived in the same small West Texas town. We would wake up super early on Christmas morning and run down the stairs to see what Santa had brought us. I can still remember the sound of all those little feet clomping on the stairs! We would have a huge Christmas dinner on Christmas night. We would have a big fire in the fireplace, play Christmas records, and open presents. After dinner, all the cousins and my uncle would play the board game “Risk.” We would play late into the night and have so much fun! It was by far my favorite day of the year. Family traditions are so important, such great memories. Send me an email and tell me about your best Christmas Additional info on Page 4 memories! The end of 2023 was full of love, fun, and travel for me and my Susan Dawson hubby, Mike. We had the wonderful opportunity to take a trip we planned in 2020 on the Danube River during the 2023 Christmas markets. I wasn't all that familiar with these until the trip was on the books, but say the words Christmas and Markets, and I'm in! Add the words river and cruise, and you can just book me a ticket. Our adventure began with a 3-day pre-excursion in Budapest, Hungary. This cruise was our first experience in any of the Eastern European countries, and it was eye-opening, to say the least. During our trip, we toured the amazing Budapest Parliament building that was bombed during WWII and then rebuilt to its former glory. The citizens took the hundreds of stained glass windows that encircle the building from their frames and stored them in the basement of the building. I Our time in Prague, Czech Republic, was inspiring. One of the few large The Christmas markets that occupy many of the city cities not bombed in WWII, their city architecture is breathtaking. Nick Noll I hope this message finds you well as we kick off the new year! Over the past couple of months, my family and I have been immersed in the joy of the holiday season, creating beautiful memories with our loved ones. The holidays were a special time filled with warmth and laughter, surrounded by family and friends. A highlight for us was witnessing a surprise engagement for my niece, a heartfelt moment that unfolded during the Dallas Arboretum holiday light event just before Christmas. We joined forces to plan this magical proposal, and to our delight, she said YES! The happiness emanated through our gatherings, making the holiday season truly unforgettable. One of our favorite experiences this holiday season was attending "Lightscape" with our girls at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens on New Year's Eve. The captivating lights surpassed what we had As our family navigates through the anticipated, providing a perfect conclusion to the changing dynamics with our girls year and setting the stage for a promising 2024. Mike Lemich Happy New Year!As we wrapped up 2023, our family was able to participate in a season of giving - giving of our time, talents, and monetarily to those less fortunate. Anastasia’s singing dance group performed a Christmas program at the Grapevine Giving Machine, where after the performance we were able to purchase needed supplies and items for families in Africa. It was a great experience for all, but especially the kids, as they chose to purchase four chickens, school books, and hygiene supplies. After that, my youngest was wondering when we were going to get chickens, which is when I introduced him to something called an HOA.He wasn’t impressed. Now that Christmas has ended, our family has switched to goal setting and finding ways to live up to our newly established family motto, “Better Every Day”. Beginning on New Year’s Eve, I decided to give the carnivore diet a valiant effort for the month of January. I enjoy experimenting with different diets, just to see how my body responds to them. I Both Calvin and Anastasia performed in a Christmas had tried plant based a while back, so I thought I would go to the piano recital (Anastasia’s first recital) and continued to opposite end of the spectrum and try carnivore. If you have any play their Christmas songs anywhere they could find a tips/tricks when it comes to cooking steak, let me know, as I am piano. Even Costco got blessed with a little extra always looking to add variety. Christmas cheer! Every year our family hosts an annual I hope your year is off to a good start and I look forward to cookie bake and then we enjoy giving plates of cookies speaking with you soon! to our neighbors and friends and eating quite a bit ourselves.
