We would go to my grandparents’ for about a week. Both sets of grandparents lived in the same small West Texas town. We would wake up super early on Christmas morning and run down the stairs to see what Santa had brought us. I can still remember the sound of all those little feet clomping on the stairs! We would have a huge Christmas dinner on Christmas night. We would have a big fire in the fireplace, play Christmas records, and open presents. After dinner, all the cousins and my uncle would play the board game “Risk.” We would play late into the night and have so much fun! It was by far my favorite day of the year.
