In our last newsletter, Mateo's team was entering its last home game of an undefeated season. During that game, Mateo suffered a non-contact ACL/MCL tear, and like that, his season was over; 12 fall seasons and 1000's of hours training, preparation, and recovery...done! But still, we wouldn't change it for anything. The amount of self-development, team camaraderie, and lessons learned was worth every bit of the journey. RFG Stories - Emilio Gonzalez The team went 2 rounds deep in the playoffs, and Mateo played a pivotal role on the sidelines as a leader and mentor to his teammates. He was elected Team Captain, Defensive MVP, First-Team All-District, and most importantly, Academic All- State. We all made amazing friends along the way and now look forward to the next chapters in our lives. Mateo has elected to hang up the cleats and focus on the next steps, including attending Texas Tech University for a dual degree in Finance and Accounting. Guns Up, baby!!!! There are more trips on the horizon, but that will be news for the next RFG Newsletter. Welcome to spring and all the wonderful joys it brings. I love working for each of you and wish you many blessings this year.
