"We are continuing to use our mobile training unit throughout Saskatchewan. There is work out there and Indigenous workers just need the skills training to be able to do it. Whether it is infrastructure that is being built within the Indigenous communities or in the urban areas, if these individuals have the opportunity to gain the skills, they will have the knowledge and are more than capable of performing the work. Beardy's & Okemasis' Cree Nation was great to work with, they want to give their community members access to gain skills that will advance their lives. The students in this course worked hard, it was very hot that week and construction is not easy, especially in the extreme weather conditions. At the end of the week, they had learned transferable skills. I feel confident if they want to to pursue a career in the Trades, this introductory course is a good starting point for them.
